Florida Student wins the Cracker Barrel Management Competition

March 26, 2010

Congratulations to Tarpon Springs (FL) High School! In March, students at this school won the 10th Annual Florida ProStart Management Competition presented by the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association's Education Foundation. Cracker Barrel Old Country Store® is a proud sponsor of the management competition because it supports high school students who are interested in restaurant management and hospitality careers.

Winning the competition that featured 44 teams has earned Tarpon Springs High School the honor of competing at National Restaurant Association's 2010 National ProStart Invitational in May.

“The ProStart program increases the quality and employability of today's high school graduates by providing them with training related to foodservice and lodging careers,” said Carol Dover, President and CEO of the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association. “Cracker Barrel has been a tremendous partner in this endeavor and we congratulate them and the students of Tarpon Springs High School who will continue to represent Florida at the national competition.”

“ProStart programs have introduced restaurant and hospitality career options to thousands of students across the country,” said Paul Seal, Director of Diversity Initiatives at Cracker Barrel. “Following this curriculum, ProStart students enter college and the workforce with the skills and desire needed to excel in this industry. Cracker Barrel supports these competitions because the students have the talent to become great leaders.”
