The evolution of home butter churns continued right up to the point where people started buying butter instead of making it. One of the more unusual models, used in the 1920s, was a metal and tin framed butter churn with wooden dashers and gears. You turned it like an old-fashioned ice cream freezer. These are popular collectibles, fitting comfortably on a kitchen counter. Hand-turned butter churns were made and used from the early 1800s through the 1950s or 1960s. Glass butter churns, made in the 1960s, came with electric motors. These can be very hard to track down, and at this point, you wont find many at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store® locations.
